Triangl Swimwear

Friday 29 August 2014

I can't believe this weekend is Labour Day, and summer is coming to an end. Living up here in Ottawa, Canada we have some long and harsh winters, so I cherish every moment of the summer heat and sunshine. It is definitely my favourite season.  What better way to hold onto the last bit of summer than with a new swim suit and an absolutely gorgeous one at that. I, like most girls, had been lusting over the Triangl pieces forever!

Triangl is based in Hong Kong, but managed and run by Australian's. They make the most fabulous swimwear and they were kind enough to offer me a suit of my choice! I may have done a little happy dance right on the spot. I chose the Milly in Candy / Pink and it is gorgeous! It is made out of Neoprene, which is the fabric that wetsuits are made of. It is firm, has a stretch resistance and helps to shape your body. I personally think it is super comfortable and I like how thick it is, so different from a regular swimsuit.

As for choosing a size, they have a very good sizing chart and information page. You can also live chat with someone if you need extra assistance. I had looked online for reviews on the Milly and didn't find too many so I thought it might be helpful to talk about sizing.  According to the chart, I should have went with an XSmall bottom and Large top, according to my most recent bra fitting which came in at 32DD. However,  I decided to go with a small bottom and medium top and it fits perfectly! I personally don't like when the bottoms cut into my hips and know that the Neoprene fabric doesn't give, so I am happy I went up a size. The top fits great as well, I thought the large would be too big around my body because it has a clasp and not a tie back so I knew I wouldn't be able adjust it.

I received the delivery very quickly and am so, so happy with everything about this bikini! Now I just need to find a beach or pool to really try it out :)

  1. love your review.......I am the same size as you 32DD and was just wondering if it is slightly loose at all under your bust? I am thinking of going for size small as I was worried it would be too big around there. xx

    1. The top fits pretty well, it could be slightly smaller but for me I think cups would be too small! It is a gorgeous bikini, I love it :) xx

    1. If you check out Triangl's sizing chart or live chat with a representative on their website they would be able to help you better. I am a 32DD and got a medium, so I am really not too sure what would be best for you :) xx

  3. It looks amazing on you!! I'm the same size as you, but the live chat associate told me the sizes offered won't fit me as M would be too small and L too big, but after reading your blog I think I'll give M a try!! :)

    1. Thank you! If you're buying a Milly, this style, you should be okay with the Medium! I just got a Chloe style and the medium is too small, need a large! Good luck it's a gorgeous suit!

  6. Hi! I'm the same bust size as you and the lady that helped me out said that I could only get a "Chloe" type in XL (the back is ajustable) because I'm big chested but have such a small back. It bummed me out! But I see that you got another type, is it not too big around the back? Would love to hear your thoughts!

    1. Hi Marine! I don't have any issues with the top, being a 32DD and the medium fits fine. I did recently receive a Chloe in Miami Mint from Triangl and although I like it, I do love my Milly more. I wanted to try the Chloe style, but I personally need/like the more support that the Milly offers with the under wire. If you don't need the extra support, the Chloe would be a great choice. I did have to go with a large for the Chloe though, the triangles are much smaller than the cups. Also I think a large would definitely be too big around, so if you need bigger cups, it might not work. The medium in the Milly is about 28.5 inches around the bottom when done up, where the part that sits under your bust around the rib cage. This bikini is definitely my favourite! Hope that helps!

    3. Thank you so much for your help! They finally released swimming suits for girls that have a small under bust but who have a big bust! They're called: small + and small ++ ! Thought I'd let you know! Sadly I made a mistake in converting my size, I'm actually a 28DD in US size so I'm going to have to give up on these suits and maybe go for a Lulu. Thanks again for the help!

    1. For this suit, it was $23.00 in duty but for my other suit, Chloe it came in a bag and I wasn't charged anything. Both came within a few days, I can't remember exactly, but there is a tracking number and I was shocked at how quickly it arrived from Hong Kong!

  8. I am also a 32 DD and have recently found out that Triangl carries a size S++ in the Milly top. the description says it is for girls with larger busts (D-DD) but with a smaller under bust. I was going to get this size but the Medium seems to have fit you so well so now I'm not sure. Have you heard anything about the S++?

  9. I have 33.5 inch(ish) hips, but I was wondering if you thought the XS would be too tight. Are the small bottoms loose on you? I'm trying to find bottoms that will stay up when I'm surfing (and wiping out...), and I've had quite a few bikini bottoms not stay up after I got dumped by a wave. Does the neoprene stretch when it gets wet? I thought triangl suits would be good because neoprene is pretty snug. My main concern is with the bottoms staying up, though I'd prefer if they didn't dig into my hips too much.

    1. Hi Alyssa! I recently lost quite a bit of weight and my hips are now about 32 inches and the small still fits fine, although I would probably go for the XS. Before I lost the inch off my hips, the S fit perfectly and for me the XS would have probably been to tight, but I don't like when they cut in at all. The neoprene doesn't stretch and is pretty snug so it might be a good option for when you are surfing! The material is thick so I think it would probably stay up better than a regular swimsuit, although I don't have any experience with surfing unfortunately ;) Good luck!

    2. Hi Alyssa,
I have a similar problem that you did, I have a 31 in hips and am really not sure what size to go with. If you ordered the xs can you tell me about the fit and if it cuts in at the hips at all?
      thanks!

  10. Hi!
I had a few questions for you after reading your blog, as I am a 32 DD as well I know I need to go with a medium top. However, I am still a bit iffy with the size of the bottom, I have approximately a 31 in waist and am very nervous about ordering a small as it would be too big. Would it be possible that you measure around the waist of the bikini bottom so I know the exact measurement? I have spoken with some of the representatives online and they say I should go with an xs but like you I hate when the bikini cuts into my hips. Thank you so much for your help I really appreciate it.

  12. Hey! I am a 32DD and I fit into jeans that are a size 24! I'm conflicted on what size for the top I should get because they have S++ but M fits well on you! Have you heard about how the S++ fits? I might go for a S in the bottoms. I also had a question on how the coverage is on top! Do you feel comfortable wearing it?

    1. Hello! I am a 32D and also wear a size 24 jeans. For my most recent Triangl suit I got a S+ and an XS bottom and it fits perfectly, much better than the M top. I love the support and coverage of the top, it's great for me :)

    1. That's too bad you had a negative experience with Triangl! I have 3 of their suits, one of which the top was a size too small and had to be exchanged. Customer service was very helpful, the exchange was quick and I did not have to pay for shipping.
